A Smile

I’m writing this post feeling inspired to make someone smile today!

There’s a poem that sits in a frame on a windowsill at my Grandparents house and I’ve loved it ever since I first read it. I want to share its beauty with you today.

A smile costs nothing, but gives much,

it enriches those who receive,

without making poorer those who give.

It takes but a moment,

yet the memory of it may last forever.

A smile creates happiness in the home,

fosters goodwill in business,

and is a sign of friendship.

It brings rest to the weary,

cheer to the discouraged,

sunshine to the sad,

and its natures best antidote to trouble.

Yet a smile cannot be bought,

begged, borrowed or stolen;

For it is of no value to anyone,

until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give you a smile.

Give them one of yours.

No one needs a smile as much

as those who have none to give.

The poem itself is quite lengthy however it feels so appropriate to share. In times like these I feel that it is more important than ever to make people smile. Not only are we in a pandemic, but this week is also mental health awareness week.

In my aim to spread a few smiles, I would like to share some of my favourite blogs and bloggers that I have loved reading recently.

(They are in no particular order, I love you all equally)

Emily blogs over at loveemblog.com. She blogs about all things lifestyle, food and beauty.

Katie has a lovely blog at katieloudoeslife.com and she has such a cute theme!

Another lifestyle based blog I am absolutely loving is gingerbloggerr,wordpress.com.

Beth has an incredible book blog at booksnest.co.uk that I adore. She has such a beautiful blog!

Chloe runs a great uni blog over at chlosuniversityblog.video.blog. Her content is so interesting and useful!

Those are five of my favourite blogs/bloggers and hopefully this will make at least one of them smile! Share your favourite blog in the comments and spread some love by commenting on other blogs that are mentioned. Make someone smile today.

As its mental health awareness week, I just want to add that if you are struggling with your mental health in any way please know that you are not alone. Reach out to someone – whether that’s family, friends, a mental health helpline or even me – it’s always better to talk!

Stay safe and keep smiling!
